Jacques Maes (Elsene 1905 - Benicarlo (Spain) 1968), Ginette à la corbeille de fleurs (Ginette with a flower basket), before 1948, oil on canvas, signed bottom right, 80 x 65,5 cm, dimensions with the original frame 98,5 x 84,5 cm. Some minor paint loss at the lower part of the painting. On the back of the stretcher a label of an exhibition in the 'Modern Portrait' in Brussels in 1948. A beautiful portrait in warm colours, Maes being under the influence of his stay in Peru between 1946-1948. Ginette was probably a relative (daughter?) of the artist, who he painted several times. The painting is sold with the monography on the artist by Roger Bodart from 1955.
